which motherboard to choose !!!?
i m trying to build a gaming computer but i don no which motherboard to choose my choice are Maximus II Formula, Striker II Extreme, Rampage Formula, Rampage Extreme and P5Q series. What are the pro and con for this few motherboard ?? If there is other better choice u may also let mi know, also the pro and con.. Thx
i maybe will overclock the processor. The processor i m choosing will be Q6600 and overclock to 2.8Ghz or 3Ghz
This is the wrong question. What do you want form your motherboard.
These are all very high end mobos so you have to ask yourself the question: what video card do I want (nVidia or Ati), what kind of memory do you want (DDR2 or DDR3).

Ok here are the Pros Cons:
Rampage Extreme:
Pro: Ati Crossfire: You can plug 2 ati video cards in this mobo, of any type, so wheter you buy one real expansive 1, and you can still plug your old video card in as second adapter.
DDR3: Real fast memory.
Dual Gig lan controller.
real good sound via motherboard, 7.1 and noise filtering when gaming (team speak).
Con: it is real expansive and the memory is too…, and I don’t really like the intel chip sets, this one has a X48 but that’s more a personal thing.
The Maximus Extreme:
Also Crossfire and DDR3, but is a lot cheaper then the Rampage, and (I think a little less good looking, but that’s only form importance if you go case modding.), further pretty much the same, without the good sound.
Rampage Formula:
Pros: DDR2 at high speed, cheap to buy.
Cons: Just 1 lan port.
Maximus Formula:
Pros: Same as Rampage
Cons: less speedy DDR2
P5Q: ati only (my recommend because you do a nVidia on a Nvidia mother board.
Pros: nothing compared to the others, but cheaper
Cons: everything is a little less
Striker II Extreme:
pros: this mobo is screaming to be overclocked, mem cpueverythingg!
works great with asus nvidia cards, I recommend that you buy a GTX280 2x, it is expansive but the performance you get is even bigger!
cons: EXPANSIVE!!
So here’s my conclusion:
If you like nVidia and the best preformances you can possibly get now, take the Striker II Extreme. If you want a proper gaming board take the Ramapage Extreme, with a little less cost and less overclocking possibility’s (and take wwater cooledvideocards (with waterblock on the GTX280) if you get two of em, because your system is overheating if you don’t)
